This! This is my absolute favorite thing I’ve made in a long while.
The pattern is the Toaster sweater #1 from Sew House Seven. It’s so cosy, so simple, and I love it. I want to wear it all the time.
I am totally a basics kind of girl – give me jeans and t-shirts any day and I’m happy. This sweater fits right in with my basics wardrobe – simple, black, comfortable. But two things set it apart from my usual “basics”: (1) elegant pattern design and (2) wonderfully nubby flecked fabric.
I love the semi-cropped length, slightly boxy style, and wide mock turtleneck. Mostly, I’ve been wearing it just like this – with jeans over a tucked in tee. But I’ve also worn it layered over a tunic length shirt (Coram top) with leggings.
The construction was simple and I finished this in an afternoon. A bit of topstitching highlights the raglan sleeve and wide hem band.
And can we talk a bit about this fabric? It’s super warm and cozy, which has been GREAT for the cold and rainy winter. And I love the little white flecks (ahem, masks cat fur quite well) and nubby texture. It almost makes me wish that winter wouldn’t end just quite yet. Almost. Happy first day of Spring everyone!!
